ALLIANCE OF ARIZONA NONPROFITS’ CEO KRISTEN MERRIFIELD TO RECEIVE AN ATHENA HAIL AWARD FOR BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
Phoenix, Ariz. (Jan. 17, 2020): Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits Chief Executive Officer Kristen Merrifield will receive an ATHENA Valley of the Sun (AVOS) Hail Award for Building Relationships at the ATHENA Awards 2020 luncheon on Thursday, March 26 at the Clayton House, 3719 N. 75th Street in Scottsdale.
Merrifield will be among six women leaders who exemplify ATHENA Valley of the Sun leadership principles receiving HAIL (Honoring ATHENA Inspired Leaders) Awards. Individual tickets are $125 and can be purchased at www.athenaaz.com.
“Kristen is a proven leader across multiple sectors invested in the development and success of others,” said ATHENA Valley of the Sun Founder Dr. Kristine Quade. “She has more than 16 years experience leading efforts to support community stakeholders, including extensive involvement working with professional associations, Chambers of Commerce and various community and business organizations, both public and private. A fierce competitor, Kristen is never satisfied with resting on her laurels and is always looking for the next big challenge to conquer.”
Merrifield was named CEO at the Alliance in 2015 after eight years as Chief Operating Officer at the Arizona Small Business Association. Previously, she had been Events Specialist at the ASU Foundation for A New American University and Director of Small Business for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
“I am honored to be among such a tremendous group of successful women leaders using their skills and expertise to make a difference in the Valley of the Sun,” Merrifield said.
Merrifield is an active volunteer serving on various business and nonprofit community committees and boards. She holds a BS in Business Management from Grand Canyon University; a Certificate in Association Management from ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) and the prestigious designations of Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP). She is also a graduate of the ASU Lodestar Center’s Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy and the ASBA Executive Business Mentoring Program.
