Cancer Support Community Welcomes New Leadership Staff

Cancer Support Community Arizona to proud to announce the appointment of new leadership staff with the creation of the Senior Director of Mission Advancement and two new Associate Director positions.

McKenzie Simmons will join the organization as the Senior Director of Mission Advancement and will lead the organization through mission advancement efforts that include marketing, social media, fundraising, and events. With expertise in fund development and a passion for serving the community, she will be a great asset in increasing Cancer Support Community's presence in the community. McKenzie was recently nominated as a "40 under 40" by the Phoenix Business Journal.

Carrie Cantrell, LMSW, MPH and Veronica Villanueva, MC, LAC, NCC, have each been named Associate Director of Programs. Ms. Cantrell, Associate Director of the Teen and Family Program, will also supervise more than 20 Healthy Lifestyle instructors who deliver an array of supportive services throughout Maricopa County. Carrie with expertise in Public Health and Social work has vast experience in program development, building community partnerships, and family-centered care.

Veronica Villanueva is now the Associate Director of Latino Programs, with emphasis on the delivery of Spanish language programs. In addition, Veronica will continue in her role as the Cancer Resource Navigator at St. Joseph's Hospital, a position made available through partnership with Dignity Health. Veronica brings with her more than 10 years of experience in working with the Latino community through training, program development and supervision. Veronica, a native of Mexico, holds clinical expertise in navigating oncology patients, caregivers, and their families, through their cancer journey.
