Kristen brings extensive leadership to the Alliance, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at the Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA), the largest trade association in Arizona serving over 10,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs. Through her previous roles at ASBA, the ASU Foundation and the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, she brings over 12 years of association and nonprofit knowledge and expertise to her new role as Alliance CEO. Kristen is an active participant in the business and non-profit community serving as a productive member and President-Elect of the Arizona Society of Association Executives; Silver Level Supporter, Board Member and Treasurer of Gabriel’s Angels; past board member of the Phoenix Workforce Connection; member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); graduate of the ASU Lodestar Center’s Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy; graduate of the ASBA Executive Business Mentoring Program; and also earned her Certificate of Association Management from ASAE. Kristen also holds the prestigious Certified Association Executive designation. She has dedicated her career to serving others and is a respected and well-rounded leader.

Michael leads the development and implementation of the Alliance’s nonprofit learning and capacity building programs through in-person/online educational workshops as well as the Alliance's annual nonprofit conference and summits. Michael creates and supports programs that strengthen the ability of people working within nonprofits to make a difference in their communities across Arizona.
Michael Barry became the first Executive Director of the Organization for Nonprofit Professionals (ONE) in March 2018. Until ONE became a program of the Alliance in 2019, ONE was the only organization solely dedicated to the professional development needs of the nonprofit C-suite executive, delivering on its mission through leadership assessments, customized roundtables and cohorts, and cutting-edge informational workshops.
Prior to his joining ONE, Michael worked with Experience Matters as the Director of Business Development - where he was responsible for the identification, cultivation, and implementation of new Arizona non-profit organizations in need of experienced talent. Prior to Experience Matters, Michael was both a consultant and an Encore Fellow with the American Lung Association in Arizona, helping to refine and develop more effective outreach efforts for the Arizona Smoke-Free Coalition. Prior to transitioning into the non-profit sector, he spent his career in a variety of executive positions with the American Express business-to-business division, including account development, contract negotiation, and marketing, in both New York and Phoenix.
The NARBHA Institute, Inc
Nathan is General Counsel for the NARBHA Institute (formerly Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority), which serves as the nonprofit partner in a joint venture Medicaid managed care organization (Health Choice Integrated Care) and which oversees subsidiary companies providing services related to social determinants of health, specifically housing and economic development. He provides legal advice to the Institute on a wide variety of matters including joint ventures, real estate, land use, commercial and residential leasing, employee benefits, corporate governance, tax, contract negotiation and administrative law. Nathan holds a JD from Boston University and a certification in healthcare compliance from the Compliance Certification Board

Laura Spiegel is passionate about the power of good leadership and is committed to developing mission-driven teams, leaders, and organizations that desire to reach their fullest potentials. With more than 40 years experience developing excellence in nonprofit organizations and the people who lead them, Ms. Spiegel offers strengths in leadership development of executives & emerging leaders, coaching, Board development, organizational development, program design and development, change management, team building, proposal development & grant writing, fund development, and strategic and action planning. Ms. Spiegel holds a Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University where she specialized in human services administration and management. Prior to receiving her Masters degree, Ms. Spiegel was the regional director of a national youth leadership organization based in Phoenix, AZ.
