Engaging with Diverse Populations - Eileen Bagnall, Executive Director, ARTabilityAZ
What opportunities does your organization have to engage with people from diverse communities? Are people with different life experiences members of your staff, on your board or part of your customer base? Why or why not? Looking for ways to welcome in new voices to your organization? This is an interactive workshop that will aid you in creating new ways to engage a wider range of people as staff, board members and patrons. During this session we will explore ways to engage with people in the community who are outside of your usual circles and how to bring them into you’re your organization. We will look at hiring practices from job postings, internships, staff training and managing expectations. We’ll also look at ways to create a board that is reflective of people in your community in a genuine manner that engages new members and enriches your organization.

In today's relational age, nonprofits need to use clear content not only to communicate but also to connect with the people we want to reach. Storytelling is the critical skill needed to provide the clear messaging that will help your organization survive and, in fact, grow.  Many of you will say you know how to tell your story. But telling a story is more than a sequential delivery of events and outcomes. You need to connect with your potential supporters with authenticity while influencing them to become part of your team. Bobbi Still and Nancy Jones have learned the secrets of engaging today's volunteers, donors, and other supporters that will provide the sustainability you need to keep serving. You see, the framework of your story will transform the impact of your marketing. And the most engaging stories follow a format as old as the Roman and Greek myths. But it is a complete shift from what you're used to. In this presentation, you will learn the basics of storytelling marketing and how to use it on your website as well as the critical website components for branding. You will also leave with your very first marketing story created within this framework that you can use for word of mouth, digital and print marketing. Stop telling your story. Invite people in to become part of the journey.
