Phoenix Cancer Support Network Lends a Hand for Cancer Patients

November 22, 2017 (Phoenix, Ariz.) - Approximately 1.6 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed in the United States annually, and 595,690 people will lose their battle against this disease. When facing a cancer diagnosis, patients and their families must confront new challenges for which there is often little help available. On the home front, cancer impacts both the patient and their family and friends in numerous ways. Treatment schedules and demands lead to changes in the daily lives for everyone involved. Therefore, planning and coordination are necessary to transport a family member to medical appointments, care for young children, assistance with bill paying or preparing meals. On the medical side, patients and their families often seek guidance locating medical specialists, finding clinical trials, and identifying support groups. Phoenix Cancer Support Network (PCSN) will bridge the gap for cancer patients by providing support, advocacy and guidance. After a year of hard work and research they have opened their doors to patients.

PCSN & VOSJCC (Valley of the Sun, Jewish Community Center) to host Family Fun Day in support of cancer patients.

Time and Date: Dec 3, 11 AM-3 PM

The PCSN Family Fun Day, sponsored by Distinctive Salon, Goldie’s Motors and Objects AZ, will benefit cancer patients by providing PCSN with funds to support patients. This event is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family, with many fun booths and activities for all ages, including: a Ferris Wheel Bounce Combo, Fish Bowl Frenzy, Leaping Lizards, Skee Ball, Alien Pinball, music and more. There will also be a raffle with great prizes generously donated by Seth Kory Tennis Academy, Dry Bar and Rocket Fizz, to name a few. During the event, the community and participants will have a chance to learn more about PCSN, their mission, and discover ways to become involved.

“With the help of the JCC and local business sponsors, we hope to raise funds to provide a helping hand for patients fighting cancer,” explains Jenny Martin, founder, and CEO of PCSN.  “Getting PCSN off the ground has been a personal heartfelt mission after the loss of my dear sister, Annie, to childhood cancer.”  PCSN’s goal is to not only raise funds but also to relieve some of the stresses faced by cancer patients and their families throughout their journey.
